10K Age-Graded Calculator

So you ran a 10K. Enter the time, your sex and your age on race day and see what it is worth against the world best for that age. Ten kilometres is long enough that pacing matters and short enough that a bad day is still a finished race.

Questions

What is a good 10K time for my age?#

A 45-year-old man reaches 70% with 40:43 and 80% with 35:38. A 45-year-old woman needs 44:18 for 70% and 38:45 for 80%. The 10K standards page lists every age and tier from 18 to 99.

Is a 10K age grade comparable to a 5K age grade?#

Yes, that is the point of the percentage. A 72.0% 10K and a 72.0% 5K are the same quality of performance for your age. Most runners score a little higher at the distance they train for, which is useful information in itself.

Which tables does this calculator use?#

Road results are graded with the Alan Jones 2025 tables, approved by the USATF Masters Long Distance Running Council in January 2025. Track uses WMA 2023. Both are single-year age tables, so the result reflects your exact age on race day rather than a five-year bracket.

What counts as a good age-graded percentage?#

The usual shorthand is 60% local class, 70% regional class, 80% national class and 90% world class. In a big-city marathon field roughly one finisher in eighty reaches 80%. Anything above 70% puts you in the sharp end of most races.
